I attended the Annual General Meeting of Northern Venture Trust (NVT) today. This is of course a Venture Capital Trust (VCT) which was one of the first VCTs to launch back in 1995, when I bought a few shares. Yes I have been holding this company for 20 years, and have bought more over the years because it is one of the more successful VCTs. According to the AIC, the NAV Total Return over ten years is exactly 300 (i.e. £100 pound invested turned into £300). The three year distribution yield is 7.6% (presumably taking into account the extra special dividend paid last year), and the discount to NAV is 5.0%. All good numbers, particularly bearing in mind the tax reliefs when investing and that the dividends are tax free.
