Introduction and Background
On Monday 18th October I attended the AGM of City of London Investment Group (CLIG - not to be confused with two other companies with similar names!) held at the rather plush Ned Hotel near the Bank of England. Ray Williams (previous SIGnet director) and I were the only non-director shareholders attending. Most of CLIG's executives, and new major shareholder George Karpus are US based, so I was pleasantly surprised that they'd all flown across for the AGM and, I learnt subsequently, for their first in-person board meeting since the pandemic.
