Yesterday I visited the offices of Abcam Plc in Cambridge for their AGM at 10.00 am– not the most convenient time if you are travelling any distance as I said to one of the directors. Abcam is a highly successful seller of antibodies to scientists which they do via the internet. Indeed the share price of Abcam, which is listed on AIM, trebled in three years before reaching a peak of 460p in July this year, although it has fallen back since then to about 340p at the time of writing. It’s now on a prospective adjusted p/e of 22 according to analysts’ forecasts with a yield of 1.7%. More comments on the current valuation of the company are given later.
