Monitise (MONI) AGM Report 2016

Monitise (MONI) was one of those stocks for speculators in the past. One of those technology shooting stars that got to a ridiculous valuation under former CEO and founder Alastair Lukes. But despite numerous fund raisings it never managed to reach profitability. The business model chosen never turned out to be of value and the market needs also changed. So he has departed, a new management team is in place, and substantial restructurings have been implemented. The company has also revised ...

Foresight 4 VCT (FTF) AGM Report 2016

At the Annual General Meeting of Foresight 4 VCT today, all three board directors only very narrowly managed to get re-elected - with 50.01% voting FOR Chairman Philip Stephens, 51.69% voting FOR Peter Dicks and 52.69% voting FOR Simon Jamieson. There were substantial votes against several other resolutions, including 41% AGAINST the allotment of shares so that Resolution was lost. The directors had a board meeting after the AGM so they no doubt were considering their position bearing in mind that although ...

Begbies Traynor (BEG) AGM 2016

For only the second time in  40+  years  I spoke at an AGM - this one was at Begbies Traynor. I was a few minutes late and was the only non-Begbies person  there apart an elderly lady who said nothing. For only the second time in 40+ years I spoke at an AGM - this one was at Begbies Traynor. Tungsten (TUNG) AGM Report 2016 – Are They Mired in Treacle?

I attended the Annual General Meeting of Tungsten Corporation (TUNG) on the 16th September. Here is a brief report on proceedings, plus one or two interesting issues raised. Tungsten is a electronic business exchange. This was a product sector that was expected to take over the world when I worked in the IT sector twenty years ago. It has yet to happen. Tungsten, like other players in that market for business-to-business automation, have yet to make a profit despite trying now for ...

Berkeley Group (BKG) AGM 2016

On the 6th september I attended the Annual General Meeting of Berkeley Group Holdings Plc at the Woodlands Park Hotel in Cobham, Surrey. The location seemed to be popular with investors (5 minutes from junction 9 on the M25) with 50 or so turning up, including Sharesoc Director Cliff Weight who has authored the Directors Remuneration Handbook and has 30 years as a remuneration consultant. Sharesoc had issued a press release detailing the excessive remuneration at Berkeley, with an excerpt below (a ...

Paragon Entertainment (PEL) AGM 2016

Share price 1.5p Market Cap £2.8m Background- This is my 3rd attendance at the AGM although it should be noted that this year the AGM has been brought forward by 6 months to the norm to be mid-year rather than to late year end. Ignoring a spike in 2013, Revenues have grown consistently. However, the Company has had to overcome a number of major hurdles in the previous 2 years resulting in profit warnings and disappointing EBITDA levels. Challenges included-closure of the ...

VP Plc (VP.) AGM report 2016

The AGM of Yorkshire-based VP, a family controlled specialist equipment rental business, necessitated an early start for a London-based shareholder since the 10.AM meeting was at Rudding Park, a country hotel on the outskirts of Harrogate. However, the early morning drive up a busy M1 was worth the effort, since a chance to quiz the company’s board provided welcome reassurance that VP, probably the oldest major player in the accident prone UK plant hire and equipment rental business, is also one of ...
