Cambria Automobiles (CAMB) AGM 2015 (Share price 52-56p)

I attended the AGM. There were c. 15 attendees, but possibly only 1-2 other shareholders Trading. I will not add to the very bullish statement. CAMB volumes are up 19.3% against the market 8.2 % ( new car sales) and we all know the background to 34 consecutive months of rising car sales. Q: How long can this continue ? A: if you look at the pattern of the last cycle, this could carry on another three years. A2: we are planning to ...

British Empire Securities and General Trust (BTEM) AGM Report 2014

A recent blog post spelled out one of the issues at this investment trust. I shall repeat it here: "Last year ShareSoc published an extensive report on the Annual General Meeting of British Empire Securities and General Trust. This is a long established investment trust which in the long term has achieved good performance figures, but in recent years has not been doing so well. Indeed our report suggested shareholders were becoming restless bearing in mind the comments of some investors at ...

DotDigital (DOTD) AGM Report 2014

On the 16th December I attended the Annual General Meeting of DotDigital Group Plc (DOTD), one of those annoying companies whose proper name does not start with a capital letter. They can try to ignore the rules of English but I will not. The meeting was held in their new offices at One London Bridge, next to the River Thames and adjacent to London Bridge Station. It is in a prestige new office block and had clearly been also fitted out expensively. ...

Baronsmead VCT plc (BVT) and Baronsmead VCT2 plc (BDV) AGM’s 2014

This report covers the Annual General Meeting of Baronsmead VCT 1 (BDV) and Baronsmead VCT 2 (BVT) which were combined together on the same day (today), along with a presentation by the fund manager between the two AGM’s. Both companies are managed by Living Bridge LLP, which as we know used to be called ISIS but had, for obvious reasons, to change its name. The meeting was held at Plaisterers hall in the city commencing at 10.30am. We started with the Baronsmead ...

Earthport PLC (EPO) Report 2014

Today I attended the Annual General Meeting of Earthport Plc in the offices of Bird & Bird LLP in central London. Earthport offers a payment framework for high volume, low value cross-border payments, as used by banks, money transfer companies and e-Commerce providers. Some highlights of Earthport’s last set of results are as follows: 67% like for like revenue growth, 151% growth in gross profits and a reduced loss before tax of £6.3 million. The meeting started promptly at 11.00am and was ...

Bioventix (BVXP) AGM Report 2014

Bioventix (BVXP) is a small company that has recently listed on AIM. To quote from the company's web site: "Bioventix is a biotechnology company specialising in the development of high-affinity sheep monoclonal antibodies (SMAs) for use in immunodiagnostics focusing on the areas of clinical diagnostics and drugs of abuse testing. The high-affinity antibodies created at Bioventix have advantages over conventional rodent monoclonal antibodies where the target is present at low concentration, or where the target is a hapten or small molecule. ...

St. Ives (SIV) AGM Report 2014

The Annual General Meeting of St Ives (SIV) was held today in their offices in the City of London at 11.00 am. There were less than 20 shareholders present and the board only arrived in the meeting room at the last minute, so in the meantime I chatted to someone from their Remuneration Consultants (New Bridge Street). I gave him my opinions on remuneration at this company, see later, and we discussed BG Group (and the rumpus of new CEO Helge ...

Dunelm (DNLM) AGM Report 2014

Yesterday (11/11/2014) I attended the Annual General Meeting of Dunelm in London at the offices of MHP Communications. Last year it was in Lincoln so I thanked the directors for the change, although the time of 9.30 a.m. was not particularly good. It seems they like to move the AGM around, but there were still very few ordinary shareholders present - about half a dozen I would guess. Dunelm is a homeware retailer (soft furnishings etc) mainly from large out of town ...

Abcam (ABC) AGM Report 2014

I attended the Annual General Meeting of Abcam yesterday (3/11/2014) at their offices in Cambridge. Abcam primarily sells antibodies via the internet to research scientists worldwide. They are one of the more successful AIM companies, with consistent profitability, good growth and good cash flow. But the pace of growth has been slowing of late and last year was somewhat disappointing. This may be due to pressure on Government spending, which finances most scientific research, in the USA and other countries. The ...
