Accesso Technology (ACSO) AGM Report 2019

I attended the Annual General Meeting of Accesso Technology (ACSO) this morning (21st May) at their offices west of London. With a 10.00 am start time there were only about ten ordinary shareholders there. This company provides ticketing and queuing systems for theme parks and other visitor attractions. It had a great share price performance under the management of former CEO and then Executive Chairman Tom Burnet (who is still on the board as a non-exec director) until October 2018 when the ...

Witan Investment Trust (WTAN) AGM 2019

The Merchant Taylors Hall is probably one of the more impressive venues where I’ve attended an AGM. The beautiful hall and quart yard garden created an impressive space for the Witan Investment Trust AGM. On arrival coffee and a selection of teas and biscuits and cucumber or lemon water and juice were served to the roughly 100 shareholders and representatives attending. The meeting started at 14:30 prompt with seven out of the eight directors noted present. Harry Henderson, the chairman, kicked off ...

Hammerson Plc (HMSO) AGM Report 2019

In contrast to a previous AGM I attended, this AGM was conducted in a sensible way, with all the presentations made and shareholders questions answered before the vote was held by way of a ballot. The board pre-empted a minor shareholder rebellion against the Directors’ Remuneration report and the authority to allot additional shares in terms of section 551 of the companies act, by communicating this to the shareholders present and explaining that the remuneration is in line with the triennial ...

Rights and Issues Investment Trust (RIII) AGM Report 2019

Rights and Issues Investment Trust (RIII), a 177m pounds investment trust, has been managed by Simon Knott for the last 35 years and has clocked up an impressive long term performance outshining many of the small cap trusts run by bigger competitors, such as Aberforth, Henderson, Blackrock and Standard Life. The trust’s minimalist annual report, which runs to just 47 pages and contains none of the glossy photographs that often grace reports of bigger trusts, gives little away about the secrets of ...

Independent Investment Trust (IIT) AGM Report 2019

AGM report of The Independent Investment Trust - March 13, 2018 The Independent Investment Trust (IIT), as its name implies is not your ordinary run-of-the mill investment trust. It was set up 18 years ago by Max Ward, as a sort of ‘retirement project’ after he stepped down as a long-time partner of Edinburgh fund managers Baillie Gifford, where he had managed its flagship Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust for more than a decade. The AGM, held at Baillie Gifford’s headquarters a few minutes ...

Henderson Opportunities Trust Plc (HOT) AGM Report

A brief AGM report on the above company. Approx 10 shareholders present. Chair Peter Jones introduced the board etc… before reading the Chairman's statement as per the annual report. We then moved to a short presentation from the fund managers, James Henderson and Laura Foll, reduced to bullet points: Gearing reduced as debt paid off due to selling toppy AIM shares mid 2018. 88% active portfolio with an average 4-5 year holding cycle – AIM would be less, large caps more. AIM was due ...

Finsbury Growth & Income Trust Plc (FGT) AGM Report 2019

A brief AGM report on the above company as follows: 200 shareholders present when we started. Anthony Townsend introduced the board etc…… before we moved to the formal business of the meeting. A few nonsense questions from shareholders, one asking if we will get an attendance card when the proxy voting goes online only – answer from the CoSec was yes. Another asked if the trust had had any issues under the audit materiality threshold, due to the threshold being a rather high £14 ...

This year’s Surface Transforms (SCE) AGM was held at the FinnCap offices, 3rd Floor, 60 New Broad Street, London EC2M 1JJ on Tuesday 11th December 2018 commencing at 11:00 am. There were around 20 attendees, which included the directors, two company managers and around 6 - 8 ordinary private investors. Blancco Technology (BLTG) AGM Report

Today I attended the Annual General Meeting of Blancco Technology Group (BLTG). This technology company is now focused on the data erasure market which is surely a growing one. I have commented on this company before (see links below), particularly as the company, and its shareholders, seemed to be a victim of false accounting – an issue that is way too prevalent of late. The legal framework under which companies, their directors and the regulatory bodies operate just seems to be too ...
