ShareSoc Premium Event: Budget 2024 – An Investor’s Perspective

ShareSoc Premium Event: Budget 2024 – An Investor’s Perspective
Date:
7th November 2024
Time: 5pm
Format: Webinar

Following the announcement of the budget on 30th October, ShareSoc will hold a webinar looking at the 2024 budget and how this impacts investors.

Panel Members:

Neil Shah- Executive Director, Content & Strategy, Edison Group
Neil has been at Edison for over 20 years leading the analyst teams as Director of Content & Strategy and establishing the firm as the leading issuer sponsored research firm.
He has also led the firm’s thought leadership on the equity research market.
Neil is a qualified accountant (PwC) with nine years’ experience as an equities analyst at Goldman Sachs. As Goldman’s building and materials analyst in London, he was ranked second by both Institutional Investor and Reuters.
He left Goldman Sachs to help set up the specialist trading hedge fund, Tusker Capital.

Stephen English – Investment Manager, Stellar Asset Management
Stephen joined Stellar Asset Management in 2020 to manage the firm’s AIM IHT service, having previously run the same strategy at another firm since 2010. He holds a degree in Economics and is a CFA Charterholder.

Never one for fads, increasingly Stephen feels the Qualitative aspects of investment will be a key driver of alpha, where anything Quantitative and that can be automated will be. Quality investing to Stephen is as much, if not more so, about the management of a business, and he aligns the portfolios to founders who maintain the owners’ eye and have a superior problem solving ability over peers with no alignment of interest. A strong culture is vital; after all ‘character is destiny’.

Henry Viola-Heir – Co-host, Twin Petes Investing Podcast
Henry Viola-Heir is a long-standing retail investor with over ten years of experience in investing in individual equities and funds. Henry primarily manages a UK-focused equity portfolio and co-hosts the popular retail investing podcast, the Twin Petes Investing Podcast. Furthermore, Henry is the founder of The Ethical Entrepreneur, an investment knowledge hub aimed at empowering retail investors with essential knowledge and tools for navigating financial markets.

At this event, Henry will provide a retail investor’s perspective on the 2024 UK budget, discussing key measures and their potential effects on investors, as well as strategies for adapting to the evolving economic environment.

Host:

Donald Leggatt – Head of IR Media at Ticker TV
Donald is an award-winning financial journalist and film maker with a distinguished career in newspapers, television, radio and digital online content. He worked with BBC Television for a decade, spent his early career at the Daily Telegraph City Desk and then Channel 4, and more recently he was Editor in Chief at Share Radio and main presenter on the London South East retail website.
